Mass Production Copy Approved: Prepare for Boarding!

Hello everyone,

after a while of busy silence, we have some great news for you. We received and approved the MPC (Mass Production Copy) for Hidden Leaders Forgotten Legends and for the base game!

We did everything we can to ensure that the expansion matches the base game and are very happy with the colours and overall quality. Visually, we did not spot any differences between the cards of the first edition and the expansion. We only noticed that the linen finish on the cards felt slightly different when holding the cards in hand. This slightly haptic difference did not justify for us throwing more than 2 million cards away and significantly delaying the game. In any case, we played several rounds and the cards integrated very smoothly with our copy of the base game.

As a next step, the games will be prepared for boarding and start their journey across the seas. If everything goes smoothly, the first games could already arrive early in October and thus clearly a head of our schedule.

 News from Ukraine: All games delivered

You might remember that a while ago we donated some Ukrainian copies of Hidden Leaders thanks to your generous help via GoFundMe. Due to the dire circumstances of the war in Ukraine, things were delayed quite a bit. The more we are happy to let you know that all donated games have been delivered. We got many pictures from happy children and teenagers receiving their copy of "Таємні лідери". For privacy reasons, we cannot share them with you, but you certainly can imagine the smiles behind these character faces:

While the production is in full swing, we are eagerly working on the next game. It's an area control game working as prequel to the story of Hidden Leaders. Here is a glimpse at the great character art that we commissioned for our not-yet properly named game:

Digital Proof Confirmed & New Game Art

Hello everyone,

we just wanted to let you know that everything is on track with the production of the expansion. The translation in all languages has been completed and we just confirmed the digital proof (CTP files). Just look at these gorgeous tokens:

Next, a pre-production copy willl be produced and we can wait to share photos of the first printed cards with you.

  The Battle over Oshra continues

While everything is in motion for the production of Hidden Leaders: Forgotten Legends we are eagerly working on a new game. Right now, we are working on the art and visual design for a not-yet named game. Just look at this neat map element:

The game will be an area control game, in which you command up to three armies to conquer fortresses and defeat your opponents. If you head over to our BoardGameGoblin on Twitter, you can see some more work in progress. Yet the pressing question remains: What shall we call this beauty?

Pledge Manager closing & Translation in Progress

Hello everyone,

while the translation process for the game is in full swing, we will close the pledge manager very soon. At the moment, 86% of you completed the pledge manager already. If you are part of the remaining 14%, please move over to BackerKit right away to provide us with:

• Your shipping details
• Your choice of language
• The payment for shipping

If you do not complete the pledge manager it will be impossible for us to fulfill your delivery.  You should have an email from BackerKit in your email inbox.  Translation in progress

The translation process for the game is in full swing. Again, it is a joy to us to see what great and creative ways our partners found to translate and interpret the original English character names:

For the delivery, we will again use an open Google Sheet that allows you to follow the process of delivering the games. Currently, there is not much to see, but here is the link for the sheet already. 

 Refined Print&Play incoming

Listening to your feedback and ideas, we have improved the Print and Play version of Hidden Leaders: Forgotten Legends further.  This includes:

• Improved instructions for printing the files
• Some wording changes on the cards to have a more consistent language
• Added backside of fate cards
• Added portable board from the Queens&Friend mini expansion

This refined version 1.1 will be delivered within the next days via a Kickstarter message to all backers with the Print&Play pledge (3€) or higher.

 Pledge Manager for 1€ and 3€ backers

Some of you reached out to us because you saw the wrong shipping costs in the pledge manager. Please note: if you have pledged for 1€ (access to the pledge manager) or 3€ (PnP) and want to upgrade your pledge: When you access Backerkit, you are set to Rest of the World shipping per default. The shipping costs will update when you proceed with your order and select a physical pledge.

Just before we head into the holidays we want to share our most recent developments regarding Hidden Leaders: Forgotten Legends with you.

 Print And Play delivered

Maybe you have seen the link in your Kickstarter messages already: We have delivered the Print and Play. You should find a message in your inbox that contains a link and the password for a zipped file. This file includes:

• Hidden Leaders (base game) including all Kickstarter content
• Forgotten Legends (expansion) including all KS content
• The new, alternative board
• The Tarot Leaders
• The rule books for expansion and base game

 We hope you enjoy the print and play and can shorten the waiting time for the physical copy this way!

 Pledge Manager opened

The pledge manager has also opened already. You should find an email by BackerKit in your email inbox. If you use the link there, you can complete your order right away. You will need to pay for the shipping costs and provide your address so that you order can be shipped. If you run into any issues with the pledge manager, you can directly contact the support by BackerKit and get help quickly.

 In the pledge manager, you also have the option to add more copies of the game or any add ons (such as the Tarot leaders) to your pledge.

 Files ready for translation

With the Print and Play delivered, all game components are ready for translation. Our partners are now translating them to the local languages. As soon as this process is completed, a final pre-production copy for each language will be created so that we and our partners can approve it.

A Crabby Knight and an Unmarked Mountain

What a great ending to the last campaign it was! Until the very last minute people joined in and brought us to an amazing 5565 backers! Also, more than 500 people have voted in our battle between two Water Folk Guardians. You have declared a clear winner: 

 We welcome the Crabby Knight as another Guardian for the Water Folk. The Tormented Turtle retreats and waits for a new chance another time.

 Unmarked Mountain: A Gift from Studio H

With Hidden Leaders, our most trusted artist, Satoshi Matsuura, became known to an audience of board gamers. We are very glad to see that other board game studios are also interested in his work and new games with his amazing art are coming up. 

One of these new games is Vivarium by Studio H. We had the pleasure to meet the people behind it at SPIEL2022 in Essen. We are already big fans of Shamans and Oriflamme and were excited to grab hold of an early copy of Vivarium. It is a set collection game where you study creatures that live in a strange world below the earth.

 Chatting with the creators, we came up with a fun idea: Why not exchange some art between the two games? A few emails later, we gladly present you: The Unmarked Mountain.

You can use this yellow Guardian card to create your own ability. It will be included in Hidden Leaders: Forgotten Legends, both in the box and the Print&Play version. So get creative with this card! And always feel free to share your creation with us. If you don't like to mess with the game yourself, you can keep it as a collectors card.

Our thanks go out to Studio H for providing this amazing character. You cannot get the English version of Vivarium yet, but you can already follow them on Instagram for recent updates on their games.

The Kickstarter is closed: Long live the next Kickstarter!

We are currently picking our brains over what we have learned from this campaign. As you guessed correctly, we are also thinking about what could be next. This was certainly not the last Kickstarter by BFF Games! For this, we would really like to know what you think of our expansion Kickstarter campaign.  Next Steps: The Pledge Manager

We are currently very busy setting up the Pledge Manger for you and preparing the Print&Play version. We will use BackerKit as the Pledge Manager and it will open on December 6th. There, you will need to provide your shipping address, pay for shipping costs and will have the option to add further copies or add ons to your order.
